Thanks to all on what was a fun night of racing and pizzas last Friday night which was Splash Night 3. All results are up on the web now. This includes all the personal best times the winners and placegetters, the records and the scores in the new trophies for swimmers competing in races for the first time.
Over 90 swimmers entered to race in the Slash Night with again the Warriors coming out ahead 1048 points to the Vikings 967, so the gap is closing as in Splash Night 2 it was 1032 - 894. For all new swimmers racing for the first time, your team at Splash Night stays the same always, swimmers with birthdays in even numbered months swim in the Warriors team and those with birthdays in odd numbered months swim in the Vikings team.
Congratulations to Chan Min Park who broke the record in the 25 Free, this is his first record and I am sure he will be after more to try and win the Records trophy, which Bailey Perriam leads the race for just now. Records are getting very difficult to break when you look at the swimmers who hold some of the records, there are a large number of record holders who are not only national age group champions and open national champions but have swam for NZ in youth teams and senior teams including Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
Leading the race for the Splash Night Age group trophies with only Splash Night 4 on 29th October to go, there is some tough competition ahead and it will be tight racing to decide the winners. Looking ahead to the final Splash Night and ageing swimmers up into their age groups, only one age group has been decided now at this time, for all other age groups there is going to be a tight finish, some very tight like the girls 14-15 age group where 3 girls will be separated by just 4 points, in the 16ys and over any girl in the top 5 could win as could any 5 in the men's 16 and over. The final Splash Night is going to be very interesting as all will need to pull out their top swims.
On the night the points scores will be put up and swimmers aged up for the night. This years new trophies are for swimmers competing in events for the first time at Splash Nights.
After 3 Splash Nights the leader boards look like this:
| Top 10 Boys | Top 10 Girls |

FINA PointsFINA points are the standards being used to select regional and national teams and squads. FINA points do not work when converting times from long course to short course and vice versa so long and short course swims are treated separately. 650 points Swim Canterbury academy 2 | |
